A daily prayer from the New England Conference
Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.
You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today's Prayer
My son is an aspiring potter.
He kneads the clay,
Throwing it onto a spinning wheel. Making a volcano-like hole,
Molding and shaping,
With gentle pressure, foresight, and planning.
When the clay does something unexpected,
He gathers it back together,
Adding some water,
Once again, a ball of endless possibilities. He manages coils with intricate designs. Dry, fire, glaze, and fire again, Finally ready for use.
Watching him create reminds me of the ingenuity of God.
Patience to smooth, mold, and try again. Building relationships repeatedly.
Love, grace, mercy, and forgiveness. We are beloved creations of God’s hands. Amen.
By Rev. Megan Stowe, Commonwealth West District Superintendent Jeremiah 18:1-11
