Daily Prayer

July 27, 2022

A daily prayer from the New England Conference

Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.

You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today's Prayer

Scripture Reading: Luke 12:13-21 O God, in whom we put our trust, Jesus, warns us: “Be on guard against all kinds of greed; for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of possessions.”   You fear — not getting your fair share, not having enough for tomorrow. In vain you frantically invest, store, and protect your possessions.   God, give us wisdom to know that our real enemy is greed: Greed will steal our treasure. Greed will waste our time, Greed will make us labor for that which does not satisfy. God, give us ears to heed Jesus’ warning, against storing up possessions for some unknown future. Give us hearts that are rich toward God. Give us the treasure that will not fade.   Use our lives to invest in your Kingdom, here and now where God is at work. Open our lives to the fullness of God’s grace that we may receive all that we need in this life and in the life to come.    We pray in the name of Christ, Jesus, who lives with you, and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.   By Bishop Sudarshana Devadhar
