Matthew 25:35

The devotion in the Upper Room today is a beautiful one! A man who lived in Florida was on a fishing excursion, catching more fish than he could ever eat. The skipper suggested an address where the man might take the extra fish. It was a Catholic charity which fed those in need. The man and his friends were able to share a meal there. Weeks afterwards people still stopped him on the street to thank him for those fish! We just do not realize how much of an impact our kindness and generosity can have on others. This story and the verse from Matthew remind me again that the light of Christ shines in me. If I do not shine that light and do what Jesus taught, I am missing opportunities.
Holy Lord, help me to see those opportunities. I want to do more. Amen

Matthew 25:35
I found so many wonderful topics to write about today in this one message. However, I loved what the gentlemen learned at the end. Until he had donated and was able to see who his fish fed, he had not noticed those around him who were struggling. His message to us is one I tell people often--look round, act, and you will reap a wonderful reward.
Prayer: Gracious God, Help us always to notice those who we might help in some way. AMEN

An abundant catch
(focus: those who need my support
Matthew 25:35
For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me in.
Today’s scripture calls for action, encouraging acts of service and love towards others. When people act in this way, they are serving Jesus. We are called by Jesus to care for those who are hungry. God does not ask us to give out of what we do not have, but He does ask us to give out of what we do have. I wish I could be prepared to help the hungry wherever I see the need. …
Matthew 25:35 Jesus was answering his disciples’ question about how they served Him by serving those in need. They did not realize that by serving the marginalized, the poor and others in distress, they were serving Jesus. Occasionally we are reminded. But often this help goes unacknowledged. The point is to do it anyway because Jesus will acknowledge it.
Prayer - Merciful God, let me be the face of mercy for someone in need today. Amen
