Verse 3b: Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death;
David begins by scolding God for “forgetting” him. Then he remembers he is nothing at all without God. In the last section he praises God, remembering God has been good to him, providing “salvation.”
God holds all the power in my life. He places the very “light to my eyes” so I do not sleep in death. If I ever begin to wonder where God is, I can remember He is busy supplying my breath and light in my eyes. God deserves my faith and my praise. I don’t believe He minds when I question, but He probably shakes His head and sighs.
Holy Lord, you are always here for us. Thank you for the breath we take each day and for the light in our eyes. You are in control. I am forever grateful. Amen
