Psalm 100:1-5
Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the LORD is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.
I Thessalonians 5:16-18
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
This is a beautiful Psalm, and would be a good thing to have memorized, to recite each morning when I wake up. It is not always easy to give thanks when we are hurting. At least it is not easy for me. And I need to be careful to not fall into the trap of saying or thinking, “God knows how I feel, God knows I am thankful, God knows I love him.” Even though it is true, God does know, I need to tell him and pray the words to Him. This helps me to grow closer to God. This helps my relationship with Him.
Heavenly Father God, you are awesome. I could not live this life without you walking beside me. You show me your love in so many ways, not the least of which is through my family and my friends. I am grateful and full of love for you. Amen

Psalm 100:1-5 / Thessalonians 5:16-18
This beautiful Psalm reminds me that even when things are tough, even when I am troubled, even when I am sad, I can be thankful. I may not be good at taking the time to praise God when I experience challenging circumstances but stepping back I realize that that is a perfect time to praise God. He is the one by my side, He is the one who will guide me, He is the one who will comfort me and bring me through my trials, never will He abandon me, never will He forsake me, always will He love me.
Heavenly Father, please guide me to praise You as I start each day. You give…
Psalm 100:1-5 1 Thessalonians 5:18. Giving Thanks Daily
Psalm 100 is a favorite on mine. It was part of our worship a few weeks ago. I was glad it was the King James Version. I committed it to memory in Sunday School--3rd grade in order to earn my Bible (KJV). These words move me to say the words aloud. It is also another reminder to give thanks always. If we could all think like our friend, Kay Layne. Even when things are not going your way, there is always something to be thankful for.
Prayer: Gracious God, Everyday I thank you, thank you, thank you. AMEN
Psalm 100:1-5/I Thessalonians 5:16-18
Even when things are not going well or as one hoped, there are still blessings for which to be thankful. Focusing on these things, particularly at the start and finish of each day can lend perspective and bring encouragement. Gratitude is a tonic for the soul that brings refreshment and restores the energy we need to keep moving forward in faith.
Prayer - Thank You, Lord, for the blessings of this new day. Please work through my weakness and failings to produce a day that provides blessings for others in Your holy name. Amen
