August 1, 2021 A daily prayer from the New England Conference The clergy and laity of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions. Today's Prayer Based on Exodus 16:4 - Then the LORD said to Moses, "I am going to rain bread from heaven for you, and each day the people shall go out and gather enough for that day. In that way I will test them, whether they will follow my instruction or not. Gracious God, Parent and Protector, hear our Prayers of both Praise and Supplication. Your Children here on Earth are beset with many woes, and all from one affliction. We have been blessed already to have received answers to easy matters such as Symptoms, Protective Measures, Antibodies, and Vaccines. Removing these questions has revealed deeper issues, though. These are concerns that only You can resolve for us. The Isolation, Suspicion of Others, Fear of Relapse, and Loss of Personal Sovereignty we feel can only be remedied by an infusion of Faith and the healing grace of Introspection and Self Realization. Grant us these gifts, we Pray, as only you can. Give us recognition of the source of our healing and let us dance in Thankfulness for the Embrace of the Lord. We know that the darkness which remains after the disease passes needs light to be shone on it in order to dispel our concern and guilt. We know in our Faith, that light can only come from you. We offer Thanks for your guiding hand in the management and control of the virus. Now that our bodies are healing, we ask for the abundance of your Love and continued Touch to restore our Spirits. With that great gift may we truly go forward bearing testimony to the protection of The Almighty to continue to do Your work along these shores. Help us to pass this test of our resemblance to You, we Pray. Amen By: Mark Zaccaria, North Kingstown United Methodist Church, Seacoast District
