March 19, 2022 A daily prayer from the New England Conference The clergy and laity of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions. Today's Prayer O God, you are my God, I seek you, my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. Psalm 63:1 O God, you are my God, I seek you, my soul thirsts for you; When life is good, and the work and road feel easy, you are as close as this breath I take. When life is hard, the way uncertain, the labor never-ending, you are as close as this breath I take. I seek and find you…over and over again, in the song of the geese seeking rest on the pond, in the tired eyes twinkling above a mask, In the sanctuary and in my kitchen in the hospital room and at the graveside… yes, even in the zoom room, I seek and find you, over and over again. You are as close as this breath I take, this breath I take, this breath I take. May each breath be a reminder of your presence, a moment of gratitude, a reminder to simply be. O God you are my God. O God you are our God… we seek and find you, over and over and over again as close as this breath we take. With gratitude and grief, with joy overflowing, in weariness and wariness, in sickness and suffering, in moments of peace both fleeting and surpassing our understanding you have been and will be our strength. Our weary souls, our joyful hearts sing our praise to you. Amen. By: Rev. Heather R. Bailes Baker, pastor of Osterville United Methodist Church, Osterville, MA, Seacoast District
