A daily prayer from the New England Conference
The clergy and laity of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today's Prayer
Ash Wednesday
Lectionary reading: Deuteronomy 26:1-11, Psalm 91:1-2, 9-16, Romans 10:8b-13, Luke 4:1-13
Loving God, you are Creative Life-Giving Force of the Universe, Too often in the busyness and the distractions of my life I forget to be grateful. So today I want to be intentional about offering you thanks. Thank you for Your unconditional Love. Thank you for constantly seeking to call me to a path of a wholeness. Every minute of every day you invite me to experience your loving presence, even when I am suffering. For that I am so grateful. Holy One, I know You are calling me to be a source of your life-giving creativity and grace for all of creation. Help me to be present when I might be the source of Your first fruits for others. Help me to discern where I might make sacrifices so that your creation can thrive. Help me to be true to You when, out of my own fear and fatigue, I want to be selfish or self-righteous. I want to be generous, as You have always been with me. In the name of my Brother, my Teacher and my Savior Jesus Christ, may I seek your grace and be your grace in all things. Amen
