John 19-23
On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.
Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”
Jesus left his peace with the disciples, and likewise with us. With our recent readings of scripture, my understanding of God’s peace is beginning to change just a bit. Maybe I do not need to ask and then wait for peace to come over me. Maybe I have lost track of the fact that God’s peace is here for me now, even though I may have turned away from it. Maybe giving thanks, and then turning and walking into God’s peace is a better way.
Holy Lord, I am thankful that your peace is so close by, even if I feel I have momentarily lost sight of it. I will turn back into your peace whenever I can remember to do so. I need you, Lord, and could not do this life without you. Amen

John20:19-23. Peace Be With You
When I read my daily advent devotion, I knew I wanted to share it with everyone.
Advent prayer: Peace
May the God of hope
fill you with all joy and peace in believing,
so that you may abound in hope
by the power of the Holy Spirit.
—Romans 15.13
God, though the world is full of evil and suffering,
I trust in your grace.
This gives me hope.
Your love is my assurance;
your grace is my joy.
Fill me with your Holy Spirit,
that trusting, I may rejoice.
Breath prayer:
Trust … peace

John 20:19
On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”
Jesus, just risen from the dead saids to his disciples “:Peace. Be with you”:Just imagine hearing him say that to us today. I am so thankful that he always brings peace to my heart. He promises to give us peace that passes all understanding, to guard our hearts and minds so that we don’t have to be anxious or worried or fearful about anything. God, I…
John 20:19-23
Peace in times of turmoil is a gift from God. We should not overlook, however, one element of obtaining peace that is within our control. “If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.” Forgiveness can bring peace as resentment and anger are dissipated. During Advent and the anticipation of the birth of our Savior, forgiveness can be another way to honor Jesus.
Prayer - Lord, create in me a forgiving heart and put a new, right spirit within me. Let me find and share the peace that surpasses all understanding through the work of the Son and the guidance of the Spirit. Amen
