A daily prayer from the New England Conference

Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.

You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today's Prayer

Advent God, whose word came to John in the wilderness, come to us again today — right now — in this present wilderness. Help us to remember that all we need — all we ever need is a baptism of repentance, a blessing of grace, a cleansing of compassion, a washing of mercy. All we need — all we ever need is to forgive and to ask to be forgiven. This is the fabric of every prophecy. This is the fortitude of every hope. This is the finale of every dream. We are at the river’s edge now. Jesus is on his way. There’s a hint of the Spirit and fire in the air. We are ready. Amen.

By Rev. Jill Colley Robinson, Green Mountain District Superintendent Inspired by Luke 3.1-6ff
