A daily prayer from the New England Conference

The clergy and laity of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today's Prayer

As it is written, "The one who had much did not have too much, and the one who had little did not have too little." 2 Corinthians 8:15 Lord, you are a God of abundance and generosity. You are the author of all that we see, all that we are, all that we hope for. Lord, you are a God who is King and Lord of all. Yet, Lord, you humbled yourself by taking the form of humankind. You lived with all the limitations known to us who are filled with limitations. You generously gave yourself to us with your love at the table, on the teaching steps, at the Cross.

Lord, you invite us to be generous in our love for you and for each other. just as you did for us You invite us to use the resources, gifts and talents that you have provided so that we might all have enough. It is a simple invitation, Lord, yet often so hard to do. Help us, Lord, to be enthusiastic in our generosity. Help us to be eager to share what we have been given so that a fair balance would be achieved. Help us to be like you. Amen Rev. Dr. Jacquelyn Brannen, Superintendent, Katahdin District
