Psalm 142:1-7

I cry aloud to the LORD;

I lift up my voice to the LORD for mercy.

I pour out before him my complaint;

before him I tell my trouble.

When my spirit grows faint within me,

it is you who watch over my way.

In the path where I walk

people have hidden a snare for me.

Look and see, there is no one at my right hand;

no one is concerned for me.

I have no refuge;

no one cares for my life.

I cry to you, LORD;

I say, “You are my refuge,

my portion in the land of the living.”

Listen to my cry,

for I am in desperate need;

rescue me from those who pursue me,

for they are too strong for me.

Set me free from my prison,

that I may praise your name.

Then the righteous will gather about me

because of your goodness to me.

We have all been in situations where there seems to be no obvious way out. Where is God? Where is his help? But then things start to fall in place, and work out- rarely the way you expected. Sometimes in almost unbelievable ways. How wonderful it is to be able to hold onto that hope, and then be blessed by God!

Holy Lord, I am in awe of your love for your creation. You are never not with me, and I must never forget that. I am thankful beyond words. Amen

Psalm 142:1-7

The Upper Room thought of the day is, “God will work with us in any situation.” The psalmist in our reading puts it this way, “When my spirit grows faint within me,

it is you who watch over my way.” I can attest this is absolutely true and no skeptic can convince me otherwise. I have lived that truth this very day. What the skeptic fails to see is that God’s promise is not to eliminate every problem, but to work with us, to watch over our way. God’s divine mercy is always enough whether the end result is one we imagine should be or not. But when it is . . . Glory, glory hallelujah.
