Matthew 8:26
He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
Sometimes our fear and the emotions of the moment can take over-- even cause us to lose sight of the presence of God. We have the benefit of knowing and understanding the power and safety of the refuge we have in Christ. I can't blame the disciples for being terrified. They were living in that moment, and what a moment! I like to think that if I had been present in that time and place, I would have been convinced of the powers of Christ!
Holy Father, again I am reminded of your generosity and love for your creation. You provide safety for us so often, more often than we can even keep track of. Help me to stay on course, and to remain aware of your presence in every moment. Amen

Matthew 8:26
And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.
His meaning seems to be that the disciples should be more trusting in his ability to save them rather than being so afraid they would drown. With absolute confidence in his power, wisdom, and goodness. Faith believes that something good will happen. It believes that God can do what would otherwise be impossible.…
Matthew 8:26
This incident finally led the disciples to begin to really understand who this man was. They needed more time witnessing his miracles to realize he was God’s son. We don’t need all that because we have read our bibles and believe. We know he is our refuge and will be with us to guide us through the wonderful times and the difficult ones.
Prayer: Gracious God, Thank you for your presence in my life. Amen
Matthew 8:26 With Jesus’s dramatic display, proving beyond any doubt He is God incarnate, there comes a slight rebuke. The disciples had seen so much of Jesus’ power, yet were fearful of the storm that surrounded them. The rebuke is mine to receive as well. Despite all God has provided, all the blessings and protection I have received, when my storms come my sense of calm can collapse into worry, doubt and fear. As Jesus shepherds me through it, His voice rings in my chastened ears, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” I am at once relieved and humiliated. There remains so much room for my faith to grow.
