2Corinthians 6:16
What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said:
“I will live with them
and walk among them,
and I will be their God,
and they will be my people.”
“We are the temple of the living God.” I like the writer’s reflection on exercise and prayer as ‘temple maintenance.’ I do put in some effort to remain healthy and physically fit. I have more difficulty with the ‘inner temple’ aspect. I allow anxiety and fear to take up way too much space. This is space which belongs to God, and needs to be fully open and welcoming to Him. I must always remember these words of God from the book of Leviticus: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.” God is alive in me, and I need to remember and respect that.
Holy Lord, dwell peacefully in me, strong and powerful through all of my worldly trials. I will do my best to remember to turn to you and to turn away from those things which occupy my mind and heart in an unhealthy and unhelpful way. Amen

2 Corinthians 6:14-18
And I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.
I think this is a great verse for new Christians to cling to as they build their faith, AND may I say a very reassuring verse for this old Christian to remember. These words then gently lead me to Romans 8:31-37 about how NOTHING can ever separate us from God's love--NOTHING!
Prayer: Gracious God, There was so much to learn from today's verses, but this is the part that I loved best today. AMEN
2 Corinthians 6:16
I focused on the passages dealing with non-believers. In this world we live in today, we are surrounded with all kinds of temptations that could separate us from God. The “do your thing” culture from the 60s has exploded in modern times. Things sinful and vile seems to be around every corner and there is a notion that we should accept it as individuality and right of expression. Quite frankly, I find it disgusting and see it as Satan‘s way of orchestrating a war on Christians in our society. I hope and pray that the pendulum swings back to a decent and respectful culture that focuses on God and His word as the guide. Regretfully, it will…

TEMPLE MAINTENANCE
(Someone starting an exercise routine)
2 Corinthians 6:16
What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, “I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Paul uses the image of two oxen being hitched together with different harnesses, creating a rubbing against one another which causes constant interruption and so the oxen are unable to complete the end results. Similarly, joining in close relationships without someone whose beliefs contradict our faith can lead to conflict stopping or prolonging spiritual growth. This doesn't necessarily mean avoiding all interactions…
2Corinthians 6:16
My “temple maintenance “ is on hold today. Tuesday is usually a gym day for me, but I will be spending most of the day traveling home from New York. I regret missing a day, but I will admit I don’t regret it as much as missing my time in Scripture and prayer each morning. It is the spiritual breakfast that starts my day off on the right footing. The other point Paul raises, a separated walk, is easier said than done. Immersed as we are in the world, staying away from the ungodly influences may mean missing an opportunity to introduce a godly influence where there is none. In the end, it probably comes down to discernment…
