A Daily Devotion for Friday, March 6

Isaiah 41:8-10

But you, Israel, my servant,

Jacob, whom I have chosen,

you descendants of Abraham my friend,

I took you from the ends of the earth,

from its farthest corners I called you.

I said, ‘You are my servant’;

I have chosen you and have not rejected you.

So do not fear, for I am with you;

do not be dismayed, for I am your God.

I will strengthen you and help you;

I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Matthew 28:20

“And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

This message from God has not changed, and never will change. Even though God may be “doing a new thing”, He is not leaving me on my own. He is with me always, old or new, rich or poor, happy or sad. This is a simple message delivered throughout scripture so many times and in so many ways. Still I have times when I may doubt this truth.

Lord, today I pray that you help me to be aware of your presence every minute of every day. I know you are with me, and I am thankful. Be with my family today, Lord, and help each one of them feel your presence. May they each feel your loving arms around them. Amen

THE GIFT  OF Faith

(Focus family dealing worn mental illness (God Jesus and the Holy Spirit will always be with us)

Today’s reading Isaiah 41:8-10

Matthew 28:20

Teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

It may not always be possible to keep from being alone but that does not mean we have to feel lonely or lonesome. Jesus assures us that he is with us always regardless of circumstance and on every occasion. I have found much comfort in this scripture even though I have heard it many times. Just knowing that Jesus is always with me. I will try…

Isaiah 41:8-10 Matthew 28:20. The Gift of Faith

I love the title the Upper Room gave this reading--The Gift of Faith. What a gift it is! To know and to understand this as the mother in today's devotion, as the Isaiah verses remind us, and as Jesus said in Matthew 28:20, God and his love are with us aways. We must trust ourselves to remember this at all times--even in our darkest hours. The strength of our faith can carry us through those dark hours if we remember to trust in the Lord.

Prayer: Gracious God, It is easy for me to write these words, but I must trust you will be with me through my darkest hour. AMEN

Isaiah 41:8-10/Matthew 28:20

This morning’s Upper Room reflection is a poignant reminder that God can be felt even by those troubled by mental illness. The promises in Isaiah and Matthew ring true in instances like these. Reliance on the promise that God will never leave, nor forsake us is foundational to faith. I cannot conceive of facing the hardships the world has in store without it.

Prayer - Be with us, Lord in times of stress and sorrow. Help us feel Your divine presence and rest confidently in the knowledge that Your love and strength will carry us through the darkest of times. Amen
