A daily prayer from the New England Conference
The clergy and laity of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today's Prayer
Holy Lord, on this glorious day for commissioning and ordination in our conference, we give you thanks and praise for having chosen these candidates as you long ago chose David to be king - by looking into their hearts. We offer thanks for these, your servants, who have answered your call to ordained and lay ministry.
We pray for these deaconesses, deacons and elders that you would grant them your eyes to appreciate the beauty in our world while recognizing the injustices, your ears to listen intently to people’s stories of both joy and pain, your hands to do your work on earth with gentle strength, and your heart to love and extend your grace to all your children.
At the same time, God, we know this ministry and mission is not theirs alone to do. We need you, and you are counting on us to truly partner with these faithful servants. Show us how best to support them and to serve alongside them with our whole hearts, minds and souls. Strengthen and encourage us on our journey together to bring your kin-dom here on earth. Amen.
