A daily prayer from the New England Conference
The clergy and laity of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.
You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today's Prayer
Jesus Your apostle Paul tells us that we are to have “your mind,” the “same mind” that is in you. But what if you are “out of your mind?” That’s what the people were saying. It makes me wonder. Does anyone think I’m “out of my mind” like you? For it would seem that they call you “out of your mind” because of the way you love. You love enemies. You forgive enemies. You love the untouchable. You love the marginalized. You love mercy. You do justice. You eat with the left out, looked over and left behind. It would seem we, your church, aren’t nearly crazy enough these days. It would seem we need more followers of yours who out of their mind enough to believe that the hungry will eat the thirsty will drink the deaf will hear the lame will leap. It would seem we need followers of yours who out of their mind enough to stand up against systemic racism to reject retributive violence as the norm to live as if the reign of God was breaking in, here and now. Make us crazy, Jesus. Crazy enough to follow this radically good news of yours. May it be so.
