Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
Today's verse is one we read recently when we were contemplating "beauty". God's abundance also never changes, and was apparent yesterday, today and will be tomorrow. God's abundance is "over the top" intricate and beautiful. From photos of microscopic organisms to the largest, tallest eucalyptus tree, we see God's abundance in His creation.
Heavenly Father, when I think about your creation, I think about your abundant love for your people. I know I am included in this. Help me to experience your love in your abundance. Amen

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

James 1:17 Today, the day before Thanksgiving, I am surrounded by God’s abundance. I love my warm and sunny log cabin, my view of a beautiful lake, and even my small kitchen that tomorrow will have us dancing around each other as we prepare dinner. But more than that, I am surrounded by wonderful memories left by those not with us anymore. My Canadian grandmother’s recipe for turkey stuffing, my mother teaching me how to make it, and my teaching my daughters. I am surrounded by beautiful family who will be here tomorrow. What a joyous day it will be. God has blessed me abundantly. Prayer: gracious God, Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Amen

Thanksgiving gives me a better understanding this year than in the past. It is a gift from God to share what we have with family and friends. When I sit down to dinner this year, I will be thankful for my son, Ed, who gave me so much joy and the family that will visit us. These are gifts from God. Even the quiet of a cold fall morning with its dusting of snow, fading colors, the aroma of coffee and the anticipation of the gathering of family and friends are good and perfect gifts. If we do not take the time to stop and ponder, enjoying quiet time with God, we can miss or gloss over these gifts and life is much less rich for it. A life, rather than a single day of thanksgiving should be one mark of being a Christian.
Prayer - Generous God, thank You for Your good and perfect gifts which give life its savor, joy and wonder today and everyday. All praise, honor and glory are Yours forever. Amen
