John 16:13
“But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.”
Jesus prepares the disciples for their upcoming work. He will send the “Spirit of Truth” to them. The Spirit will continue to speak the truth just as Jesus has. The Spirit will not lead them astray, or go off on a tangent of its own. It will speak for the Father. I believe in God because the Holy Spirit guides me and shows me the way for me to go. This is all part of “truth”. It is a big word, with no simple definition, but it is essential to my faith.
Holy Lord, I am so thankful for the gift of your Holy Spirit to lead and guide me in the way of truth. May your truth shine out of me like a light to others. Amen

As transformers, we understand the Holy Spirit’s presence in our lives. Many people continue to go their own way—doing wrong and not admitting it. We’ve all heard of the person suffered from a guilty conscience and finally can’t stand the guilt any longer and admits his/her wrong doing. I truly believe that was the Holy Spirit moving that person to the truth.
Prayer: Gracious God, I am glad I understand the Spirit’s role in my life. Amen

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.
Through television, phones, laptops, or face-to-face conversations with others, we have many sources for obtaining information. While there are many reliable sources, today’s scripture reminds us the only consistent truth is from the lord because he sent to all believers the Holy Spirit to dwell within. If my dad said it once, he said it a million times - “let your conscience be your guide.” In essence he was referring to the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth. God’s still, small voice will never lead us to do bad things and when we yield to temptation that same voice will convict us of our sin and insist on repentance. The key is listening for and to that voice. More importantly, we must take the step of faith that allows that voice, the Spirit indwell us and guide our life.
