Matthew 10:31
“So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”
Jesus had sent his disciples out to minister to the people, spread the good news and heal the sick. They likely were very afraid to follow this command, as it clearly carried a fair amount of danger. They must have had some idea of all of the risks involved. It took faith, and lots of it, to trust in Jesus and follow his direction. And this was when he was standing in front of of them, speaking clearly, directly to them! We do not have the benefit of this immediacy, but we do have the assurance of ages of believers and the constant presence of God. We have the Holy Spirit, living within us to keep us pointed in the right direction.
Holy Lord, thank you for your constancy, and your presence among your people through the ages. This is a priceless comfort to me. You supply my every need. All the glory is yours. Amen

Matthew 10:26-31
Do not be afraid, you are of more value than many sparrows.
There are many "do not be afraids" in our Bibles and Jesus says it 3 times in these verses. I'm sure we have often said this to ourselves as we face something difficult. If we have faith and trust, these words are preparation for the future, whether it be immediate or long term.
Prayer: Gracious God, I know I am of value to you and I will call on your strength to not be afraid. AMEN

Here we are again, God charging us with the responsibility of spreading the Word. In this short reading, Matthew 10: 26-31, it is said three times, “do not be afraid”… so why am I so afraid? Am I afraid of rejection? Jesus went out boldly and his response to rejection was perseverance. This is our example.
Dear Father, I pray to you (again) to help me and guide me to be better and bolder with Your Word. Amen
