Psalm 34:1-14
I will extol the LORD at all times;
his praise will always be on my lips.
I will glory in the LORD;
let the afflicted hear and rejoice.
Glorify the LORD with me;
let us exalt his name together.
I sought the LORD, and he answered me;
he delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to him are radiant;
their faces are never covered with shame.
This poor man called, and the LORD heard him;
he saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the LORD encamps
around those who fear him,
and he delivers them.
Taste and see that the LORD is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
Fear the LORD, you his holy people,
for those who fear him lack nothing.
The lions may grow weak and hungry,
but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.
Come, my children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
Whoever of you loves life
and desires to see many good days,
keep your tongue from evil
and your lips from telling lies.
Turn from evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it.
Psalm 86:12
I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart;
I will glorify your name forever.
These verses are just what I need this morning!
The devotional reminded me of, “Bloom where you are planted.” My mom gave me a little pillow with this printed on it when I was very young. God instructs me in these verses to turn away from evil, turn to Him, praise him and give thanks, and live my best possible life, knowing I am blessed and always have God at my side. Simple instructions for a Godly life. But sometimes we will find ourselves clinging to a rock, barely keeping our roots intact. God is still with us, and we can still strive to be the best we can be. God has not left us.
Holy Lord, help me to always look to you, follow you, and listen for your guidance. I know that you never leave me, but sometimes I do feel alone. Help me to continue to grow and seek you, even when the way does not seem clear. Amen

Psalm 34:1-14. Psalm 86:12.
In today's writing, the author talked about fulfilling our purpose despite challenging circumstances. Instead of using life's challenges as excuses, so many are able to accomplish great things. We all know someone who has done much good work when no one expected it to happen.
Prayer: Gracious God, May I have the fortitude to do all you want from me no matter what! AMEN
Psalm 34:1-14 / 86:12
Here, we are reminded that God is truly worth praising and praising all the time not just in good times and times of joy. In this reading, what stuck out for me was the phrase “taste and see…”. I thought about a local Latin bakery that we frequent. I can’t tell you how many times we’ve gone in and I’ve gazed through the glass at all the confections that are offered and imagine how good they would be. It isn’t until I actually purchase one of the treats and taste it that I really do appreciate how good it is. Faith grows through personal experience, not just hearing about it or imagining about it. Once it…

Today’s reading ….psalm 34:1-14
Psalm 86:12
I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your name forever.
The upper room author reminded me of The parable of the sewer…. about seed growing on rocky ground primarily in Matthew 13:5-6, Mark 4:5-6, and Luke 8:6, describing seeds sprouting quickly but withering due to shallow roots when the sun beats down. However the author’s tree did not wither and die, it survived and grew. Like the tree striving to survive David’s trust in God in times of deep trouble, remind us to do and say the…
Psalm 34:1-14/Psalm 86:12
Yesterday, I heard Alistair Begg preach on the concept of giving praise to God in difficult times. This is not an uncommon lesson in Scripture as evidenced by today’s devotional verses. Spiritual dryness, a sense that circumstances are as good as they are going to get, can be very taxing. The cynical believer finds comfort in believing circumstances could always be worse. The Spirit-filled believer praises God and gives thanks in advance for the blessings that are sure to come. It is pretty obvious which of these two believers is a more effective ambassador for the Kingdom of God.
Prayer - Lord of all creation, I give thanks and praise for the blessings I have received as…
