Jeremiah 29:4-7
This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says to all those I carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon: “Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce. Marry and have sons and daughters; find wives for your sons and give your daughters in marriage, so that they too may have sons and daughters. Increase in number there; do not decrease. Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”
God encourages us to ‘bloom where we are planted.’ It often is easier to complain or worry about change and what will be different or “less” after a change. With God’s words through Jeremiah, the Israelites learn that God is truly with them always and everywhere. They should not wait to be settled back at home to live their best Godly lives. Change can bring comfort and easy progress, but it can also bring hardship and struggle. God does not want us to miss out on any opportunities, whatever the setting. “Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”
Holy Lord, I will look for you everywhere. You will not leave me alone. I am so thankful, and I am yours. Amen

Jeremiah 29:4-7
7-And work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare.
God is reminding us that no matter where we are, we should carry on life as usual. I remember when we retired and moved to a new town in a new state, I wasn't sure what I would be doing everyday. Once settled, I decided that whatever I did, I wanted to "make a difference." I've learned that it is the small things we do that often have the biggest impact--so I try to do lots of little things for people who need them. I send monthly cards…

But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.
What comes to mind for me today, is the devastation that comes in our own country. with war, hurricanes, tornadoes, fires. that many people are exiled from their own homes. They have lost everything, and don’t know where to begin. This is definitely where one’s faith has to be paramount, because we have to believe god…
Jeremiah 29:4-7 Jeremiah was encouraging the Israelites in Babylonian exile, but his words apply to every Christian. From an eternal perspective we are in exile from our heavenly home. At the same time, we can and should “seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” Each of us has a role to play in making this place we live better, peaceful and prosperous. We do that by prayer and application of the precepts of God’s word to our daily lives. I think of the Scouting admonition to leave every campsite better than you found it. This principle, for the…
Jeremiah 29:4-7
Being active duty and then marrying a career military man, we found ourselves in the position to be moving about to new cities until we finally settled in our current home. Moving along and having to say good bye to friends made was never really easy for me but I dove into each new “adventure” with a positive attitude, eager to try a new job and make new friends. We found a great deal of comfort when we were finally in a place where we would stay, where we raised our family, found a church and good work. With God by my side, it always worked out . I just hope that I made a difference as I…
