A Daily Devotion for Tuesday, October 31

2 Corinthians 10:5

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

Paul is describing how we wage war, in contrast to how the world wages war. Again this seems helpful when struggling with doubts, or when faced with forces that are attempting to hold down or limit our faith. For me, the only way to combat these forces is to ask God to help me. I can't "think" my way through doubts. I need to remember the Holy Spirit is right here with me, ready to help. If I can remember this, all of my decisions can involve God and are more likely to keep me on the right path.

Holy Lord, you are with me for every decision I need to make. Help me remember to listen for you, and not rely on my own thoughts and emotions in the moment. You are full of grace. Amen
