Luke 15:10
“In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
Who or what are these “angels of God”? They certainly are in tune with God’s will, rejoice when He would rejoice and are at His bidding. They sometimes announce themselves, sometimes appear in human form without letting us know. They live in the presence of God. They sometimes protect or warn us. It is not for me to identify angels, or hunt them down. It is for me to show love to each and every person I meet, the best way I possibly can.
Holy Lord, you have told us a little about angels, but we always want to know more. They are part of your heavenly “toolbox” and not for us to fully understand. I am thankful for the many ways you look after me. Amen

Angels live in the presence of God and regularly see His wonders that are beyond our human understanding. This is an event the entire spirit realm recognizes. They get so excited when a sinner repents that they stop everything to celebrate. They rejoice with great joy. The finding of lost sheep was such a cause for rejoicing that Jesus called for all of Heaven to celebrate with Him! Just think how serious a man’s lost condition must be in order for Jesus to see it as a time to stop and throw a party. It can…
Luke 15:10
I remember in my home church growing up in Dayton, Ohio that receiving new members was treated like an event. They were formally introduced during the service (no applause, please, we’re Presbyterian) but after worship there was a potluck lunch to welcome them and celebrate their presence. In a tiny way we were mimicking the celebration of the angels in the heavenly realm each time a sinner repents and is justified. In our post-Christian environment, such celebrations are far fewer in number, but that should make them even more special, both to us as well as to the angels of God.
Prayer - Merciful God, we seek more laborers for the harvest here on earth. We long to…
