Romans 15:4
For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
This could be our Tuesday night group‘s “life verse”! The scriptures hold all of the reasons for our hope. The more we seek God and seek to understand Him, the more hope we have. God’s Word instructs and changes us. We are being transformed into God’s intended creation.
Holy Father, thank you for giving us your Word. Through it we come closer to you. We have hope because you have given us hope. Amen
Becky, transforming
How fortunate we Christians are to have the Holy Bible to help us on our journey. Whether it is great joy or great sorrow Jesus and his disciples speak to us so that we can understand and know that God and Jesus are always with us no matter what. I remember when the book "The Greatest Story Ever Told" came out. I couldn't wait to read it even though I was just a teenager. I remember seeing an advertisement for the book and it said: The Greatest Story Ever Told By The Greatest Live Ever Lived. I shall never forget that and how it affected me at that time.
Dear God, May we always remember the teachings you brought to…
Romans 15:4 This verse is a wonderful reminder for us to read scriptures, both the Old Testament and the New Testament, as often as possible. Having a daily routine of devotion is a perfect way to do this. Using the upper room gives us a reading and a story every day as do other daily devotionals. Our transformer group offers us such a special time with our Bibles. Not just reading but by being topical we often see the personal connection we have to the reading. Prayer: gracious God I think you for our transformer group. Please guide others to join us. Amen
Romans 15: 4 For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.
Paul is telling us that the Scriptures were written to teach us how we came to be Christians. The words I read in the Bible have taught me so much about what God wants and has in store for me. These words help me to endure all the challenges this life put in front of me. The Old Testament gives me an understanding of the heart of God. Although at times God seemed angry, his love for us prevailed and he gave us the hope …
Romans 15:4
It is the Word of God which was written for us to learn the only way to salvation... It is the Bible which explains his glorious, forgiving purpose for us all. It is in the reading of the written Word, which reveals God's amazing grace his great mercy, unconditional love and his never-failing faithfulness to the people he created . It is the Bible.. the Word of truth, for whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction and our encouragement.. so that we might have a hope in the Lord. We live in a different world where we will always be faced with trials and temptations, difficulties and dangers - but as we patiently trus…
Romans 15:4 Paul often referred to the importance of endurance, but key to our hope is the encouragement we receive from Scripture. The power of the Word is evident in the timelessness of its teaching and, unlike any other writing, the capacity to reveal new insights with every reading throughout one’s lifetime. If we are thoughtful and deliberate in our reading, the Holy Spirit lets us read every passage as if it were the very first time and with every new insight, our hope is strengthened.
Prayer - Eternal God, thank You for the gift of Scripture. The Word, made flesh in Jesus and living with us today in each verse, passage and book that we read. Its mystical power encourages…
