Psalm 118:1-7
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
his love endures forever.
Let Israel say:
“His love endures forever.”
Let the house of Aaron say:
“His love endures forever.”
Let those who fear the LORD say:
“His love endures forever.”
When hard pressed, I cried to the LORD;
he brought me into a spacious place.
The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?
The LORD is with me; he is my helper.
I look in triumph on my enemies.
My favorite verse here is verse 5:
‘When hard pressed, I cried to the Lord; he brought me into a spacious place.’
And the next verse reminds me that no matter what happens to my mortal being, God is in control of my immortal soul. If I truly am remembering this, there is nothing to fear on this earth. But I know what life on this earth is like for a human being, even a follower of Christ. When I call out to God, I must listen and wait. I must turn to Him, and he will turn to me. He will find a spacious place for me here in this life, which will bring me peace.
Holy Lord, you are my comforter and my protector now and forever. Help me to find peace each day, and to turn always to you. Amen

Psalm 118:1-7
‘His love endures forever “…truly it does.
How many times in my nearly 7 decades of life have I cried out to the Lord? Too many to count, but His enduring love does not count or keep track. He is always there for me. Psalm 118:21 is on my “personals” list, “I will praise You, for You have answered me, and have become my salvation.” Salvation, the greatest answer to any prayer.
Dear Lord, Thank You for your enduring love, thank You for all my answered prayers, thank You for providing me with salvation. Amen
Psalm 118:1-7.
I had some very minor surgery this morning. I was not concerned about it at all. Yet, I found myself calling up Bible verses in my mind during the procedure. I often seem to remember Psalm 121:2 "My help cometh from the Lord...." Verse 5 of today's Psalm, 118, offers similar comfort. Today's devotion writer experienced the same thing I do. She found comfort in Psalm 118 and in caring friends and family. I often wonder who non-believers seek for comfort in times of trouble.
Prayer: Gracious God, Your words do so much for me. Thank you for Sunday School teachers who had us memorize certain verses. How wise they were. AMEN

Psalm 118:5
Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free.
I Think about the specific times I was in a difficult situations.(Some times more than others).
I focused on the fact that when I called out to the Lord, he answered my prayer. I know this is true because such peace and calm wash over me each and every time., This means I should give thanks by acknowledging and remembering that in these difficult times, God was there, He heard my prayer, and He responded by assisting me, which always brings me such peace. . We can all do this by…
Psalm 118:1-7
The words, “His love endures forever” appears four times in this passage. Even when going through those difficult phases of life where the only sense of God we have is the absence of God, what St. John of the Cross called “the dark night of the soul,” the message and truth of Scripture remains. The writer of this morning’s reflection experienced this in her frightening illness. I suspect every one of us goes through these dark nights from time to time, but we must try to remember God walks with us through the valley of the shadow of death and will never leave, nor forsake us. Locking some of these Scriptural assurances in our memory can help us…
