Micah 7:18
Who is a God like you who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.
This Old Testament verse reminds me that God has always been a forgiving God. The death of Christ on the cross did not turn God from unforgiving into forgiving. But that sacrifice made God’s forgiveness readily accessible and available to every person walking the earth. God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. I am so thankful for being a part of this family of believers.
Holy Father, I am thankful. You continue to bless me with your love and your presence. You have given me gifts, which I use and continue to discover. You forgive me for my sins, and you love me. Thank you, Lord. Amen

Micah 7:18 Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.
Micah stands in awe of God. The God who pardons our sins and is always ready to give us a second chance to do things correctly. A God who doesn’t stay angry but forgives if we repent. A God who sent his Son to us to redeem us from our sins and give us eternal life. I stand in awe of this God, this God that I worship and believe in and thank for all his understanding of my weaknesses.
Dearest Lord, you are always there ready to…

Micah 7:18
Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in steadfast love.
When God forgives, he forgets. This is repeated in scripture time and time again. God deals with things in different ways than we do. Never is this more evident than when we consider the scripture today. Our guilt. What we do with our guilt and what God does are not the same. We all have guilt to deal with. It's a condition of our humanity. We run from it, we try to ignore it, we rationalize it, and deny it. We know i…
Micah 7:18 Where is there another God like you, who pardons the guilt of the remnant, overlooking the sins of his special people? You will not stay angry with your people forever, because you delight in showing unfailing love. While we know there is no God like our God, I love the wording of this verse. When I do wrong and ask for forgiveness, his anger at me is gone and I can almost see the smile of delight on his face. He wants always to love us. I love the word unfailing. I know he will never fail me. Prayer gracious God, as you delight in showing me your unfailing love, so I delight in spreading your love around. Amen
Micah 7:18
This verse offers an ideal formula for living a godly life. Letting go of anger and giving others a second chance shows them God has given His believers a gift unique in this world of getting even. When we truly delight in showing mercy, the love of God can more easily enter the hearts of those forgiven. Forgiveness quite naturally produces the fruit of the Spirit for both the forgiver and the one forgiven.
Prayer - Merciful God, show me how to be merciful and practice mercy with joy. With each act of joyful mercy to which I am led, let the recipient take a closer step to Your kingdom. Amen
