Matthew 4:4
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
Jesus is speaking to Satan, who is trying to tempt him. Jesus knew his test in the desert was part of God’s calling for him. We are reminded that God is the one in charge, and the one we listen to and follow. God‘s word is sustenance for us, for our earthly journey.
Father God, I will listen for you, and listen to you, the best I am able. Sometimes earthly needs seem so important, but in the larger scheme of things I know they are not. Your voice comes to me in many different ways. Amen

Matthew 4:4 But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
Jesus went into the desert to be alone , and to pray with his father. and he fasted for 40 days. He must have been in a weaken statement, tired and hungry, but he did not let the devil’ 3 temptations interfere with his sinless life. One of the best ways to defend ourselves again the devil is to depend on the word of God, listening to the Holy Spirit within. The lesson here is powerful. Even when I am tempted I know that God will not leave me. Talking and listen…
Matthew 4:4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God”.
When Satan tempted Jesus, Jesus could have turned the stones into bread, however he chooses to listen to His Father and not be tempted. Jesus lived His life as fully man, because He was obedient to the Father. Jesus lived His life as we are to live. In total obedience to our heavenly Father.
Dearest Lord, thank you for sending Jesus to us to show us how to live according to your will. Help me to always be obedient to your name and to continue to listen to your word and follow Jesus’ example. In…
Matthew 4:4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God”.
The practical side of me knows that I can live by bread alone, but that that life would end with my physical death. Jesus tells me that the life that is worth living includes listening to the word of God and living for eternity.
Dear Lord, thank you for giving us the knowledge that there is more to life than what we experience here on earth. Without that, life on earth would be meaningless. Amen.
Matthew 4:4
Pastor Gil often used the term, “spiritual food.” Just as our physical health is supported by nutritious food and damaged by junk food, our spiritual health is strengthened by Scripture and damaged by profane and ungodly junk. There are many good and edifying things to read, but in the same way strawberries are good, but blueberries are superfoods, Scripture is the superfood of spiritual formation.
Prayer - God in heaven, give me this day my daily bread of Scripture and allow it to permeate, nourish and grow my spirit. Amen

Matthew 4:4 But Jesus told him, no! The scripture say, “people do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Jesus knew and obeyed the Scriptures. He was able to do this even in desperate times of temptation by Satan. We can try to have the same strength by knowing our scriptures – God’s words for us. I believe this group of transformers are trying our best to know and understand scripture so we may live as God wants us to live. Our knowledge can give us the strength to overcome many of life‘s obstacles. Prayer gracious God, I know my strength comes from you. Amen
