Romans 2:16
This will take place on the day when God judges people's secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares.
This verse was confusing to me until I read some commentary thoughts and explanations online. Paul reminds the Gentiles that even though they do not live under the Law, they still know right from wrong, as their conscience guides them. The Pharisees, even though they were to be living under the Law, were not always guided by it, and sometimes had ulterior, sinful motives behind their behaviors. When the day of judgement comes, God will see all, the good and the bad, the open and the secret, and all will be accountable. I know that I am forgiven for my sins, but sometimes I wonder if there are sins I am not even aware of? This is why I pray, "and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us."
Holy Lord, forgive me, I pray. I have no secrets from you. Amen

Romans 2:16
We will be judged by any secrets we harbor—not by our good works, not by our church membership, not by reading our bibles, etc. This is difficult to understand as we are told to do all those things I listed. I do hope I have no secrets I have forgotten.
Prayer: Gracious God, Again, Lord, I am not sure what you expect of me after reading this verse. Help me understand. Amen

We will all face God’s judgement someday . If we are consciously, faithfully living for Him, then we don’t have to be afraid that we won’t be ready. We don’t need to worry, all that is required is that we’re faithful in this moment. So, while a whole long life of faithfulness and preparing ourselves is great, it’s also true that if we start now and we’re faithful from now on, then no matter when that day comes, we will be judged righteous. So, there’s no worry that we need years to prepare ourselves, if…
Romans 2:16
Becky’s observation that we could likely harbor sin that we don’t even realize as a part of our life is a sobering thought. It’s as if we are keeping our own secret from ourself. Yet Scripture is clear that God knows our hearts. If that heart is contrite, acknowledging even the sin we may not recognize, God Is faithful to unlock that secret and forgive. The onus is then on us to hear God’s still small voice pointing out the sin and saying, “Go and sin no more.”
Prayer - Forgiving God, there are no secrets before You, even and especially the ones I hide from myself. Cleanse my sinful heart as I seek Your forgiveness and set…
