A Daily Devotion for Tuesday, July 7

John 15:1-5

verse 4: “Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.”

Tom and I watched the Netflix documentary “American Gospel” a couple of weeks ago. (The downside of the “prosperity Gospel“ which is so prominent in the US) It was fascinating and inspirational. But it left me a little confused about my own abilities to change- should I even try? No one is truly “good” other than Jesus. But God does want us to grow. He just wants us to stay with Him while we grow. He will “grow” us. We can’t do it by ourselves by just trying harder. Every day I need to remember to ask for God’s help. I need Him.

Father God, you provide the increase. You will help me to grow. I know I am never too old to grow. I want to grow until my final breath. Thank you God for being with me always. Amen
