1 John 2:28
And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming.
Whenever Jesus comes for me, I want to be able to say that I tried to do my very best, and asked for forgiveness when I knew I was wrong. I would like to be able to say that I tried to never intentionally hurt someone with my words. I would like to be “confident and unashamed before him.” But there are always things about myself that I am not proud of, no matter how hard I try to do the right thing. I ask that Jesus walk with me, and that the Holy Spirit be always living in me, to help me to make the best decisions and to guard my mouth. Create in me a clean heart, Lord. I want to be ready for you when you do come for me. Amen

And now, little children, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink from him in shame at his coming.
Jesus is coming again. He will return in great glory for all to see.
The believer who is obedient to the Lord, who lives as he did, by loving others and doing for others, is like Jesus. Good deeds cannot produce salvation but true faith is present. 1 John 2:28
Confident and unashamed; this is a tall order for a sinner facing God, even one who has repented. It must always be remembered that if we assume the blame for our sin, God will remove the guilt. Being justified by the sovereign of the universe should give us the confidence, but I must admit I still have lots of work to to do on the shame part. Focusing more on God’s strength than my weakness is a start.
Prayer - Jesus, if You have not called me home before You return, grace me with the confidence to stand before You unashamed when You come to claim Your own. Amen
