Hebrews 4:9-10
There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.
Resting from our work is biblical. It is perfectly okay, and even better than okay. It is what God intends for us. It is not a law that cannot be broken, but it is a blessing from God. We are thankful for our days of rest, and should not feel guilty about taking time to recuperate and have fun. During this season, as we await the birth of our Lord and Savior, may our rest be truly a blessing for each of us. May God be with each and every one of His people in an unmistakable and tangible way. May hearts be softened and warmed. Amen

Hebrews 4:9-10
We see here the term Sabboth rest. God rested after the creation, not because he was tired, but because what he had done "was good.' It was a chance to step back and see his beautiful creation. Sabboth rest can be any day that we also step back and spend time with our family and friends. Time visiting, sharing food, watching our children play sports, or just relaxing and playing with them., God set an example for us that we should follow.
Prayer: Gracious God, May we value Sboth rest as much as we do our work careers. Amen
I chose a career path that put me in a position to work many times on Sunday, at least at the beginning of my career. Although I was working, I did have the blessing on those days of making a small difference in someone’s life, many who are having the worst day of their lives.
Dear Father, thank you for the times that I am able to rest on Sundays and if I am at work on those days, please make it so that I am making a difference for someone. Amen.

Christmas Eve
Hebrews 4:9-10
So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his.
This rest is the results of knowing that God is in charge of all things that concern us and he will take care of is. I believe if I work hard and do my best at whatever I need to do for others and whatever God gives me to do. If I put my confidence and trust in him while I am doing it, I can enjoy the rest that would be very similar to God when he rested on the seventh day…
Hebrews 4:9-10
Sabbath rest was eliminated once I began my third year of medical school with its clinical rotations. After this, I worked many, many Sundays over the subsequent 37 years. This experience has given me a renewed appreciation of setting aside a day free from work responsibilities. Granted, I don’t have to go into work on any given day at all anymore, but I still have a job of sorts and I try to make it a point to put it aside on the Sabbath. If God did it, that should be my example. Even in doing what should be pleasurable, I can find ways to disobey God. The human condition is strange indeed.
