Genesis 1:25-31
God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground. ”
Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food. ” And it was so.
God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning —the sixth day.
Psalm 34:9
Fear the LORD, you his holy people,
for those who fear him lack nothing.
This has been a week of blessings, as I look back at a few of the things which God has brought along another step. Some might not look at them as blessings, but I do. I am thinking about having had the opportunity to share some of my faith with another in the office, and having those words seemingly enter a softened heart. I have also begun to experience the realization that painful trials really do change us for the better if we go through them with God. Also, there was a trip to Harris Hill with some CUMC folks for an hour of singing, laughing and crying with a room full of beautiful seniors. God was right there with us. God’s blessings are all around us.
Thank- you God, for your many blessings, and for bringing me along on this journey, growing closer to you. May I always see and appreciate your blessings, each and every one. Amen
Becky, transforming

Simple Wonders
(Focus: those who walk for exercise
Psalm 34:9
Oh, fear the Lord, you his saints, for those who fear him have no lack!
First of all, fearing God is not being afraid of Him but having a healthy respect and love for him.,it is not believing that he has the power that if we mess up, He is going to send us to hell. That is not His heart. All the mistakes we could ever make have been thrown on Jesus and He took that punishment by dying on across for us. That's the gospel. Fearing God simply means to hold him in the highest honor in our life. . When facing any trial…
Genesis 1:25-31 / Psalm 34:9
Slowing down to take notice the wonders of God’s creation takes a bit of practice. Like Tom, I always felt like I was “wasting” time if I wasn’t doing something I considered productive. It wasn’t until after my adjustment to retirement that I started to see the value and importance of “doing nothing”. This is a time when I can really enjoy the details of God’s magnificent creation, the details of a bird’s makings or it’s distinct song, the intricacies of a flower’s structure, the feel of the warm sun on my skin…it goes on and on. There are so many details to appreciate. The “doing nothing” has become a very favorite part of m…
Genesis 1:25-31/Psalm 34:9
I can relate to the author of this morning’s Upper Room reflection. Earlier in my life, “down time” was seen as “unproductive.” Even on vacation, I had to be doing something, even if it was reading another book. Now when I have the opportunity to just be, I seem to fall asleep. Even though there are few things that give me as much joy as the majesty of creation, I suspect I have missed many blessings in my misguided focus on “not wasting time.” What I am taking away from this morning’s devotion is that I need to let these arbitrary and artificial distractions go and spend more time enjoying God’s gifts and giving thanks and praise.
Genesis 1:25-31. Psalm 34:9. Simple Wonders
The Author of today's devotion wrote, "God does not judge me by what I accomplish in a day." We know this on many levels yet we still feel as if we should be "doing" all the time. God may not be judging me but those around me often are and I am the worst judge of myself. I should not feel guilty enjoying the sunrise. I should not feel guilty spending time watching the flock of winter birds enjoying what I feed them. I should not feel guilty just sitting the warmth of the sunshine in my sun porch. I should have been addressing cards, reading a few chapters for my book cl…
