I Thessalonians 5:12-15
Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone. Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.
John 15:16
“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit —fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.“
The fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, generosity, self-control. Today’s devotion in the Upper Room was about a woman who found it difficult to ask for help. Because she was at the time forced to use crutches, she found herself asking one stranger to help another stranger at her own yard sale. She witnessed the interaction, and noticed how pleased the man was, being able to provide the needed help. We have all experienced the joy which comes from helping someone who needs our assistance. I pray today that God opens my eyes to see where I can be helpful. May I utilize those gifts the Holy Spirit imparts to me. May I be an example of kindness, goodness and generosity today. Amen

In God’s Perfect Timing

Today’s reading 1 Thessalonians. 5:12-15
John 15:16
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
Jesus said we did not choose him, but he chose us for a relationship with him. He did it for a reason. He wants us to enjoy our life and to bear good fruit. This is the exact plain he choose cod each of us. God considers us his work of art. We must not tre…
1 Thessalonians 5:12-15. John 15:16. God's Perfect Timing
Jerry and I were speaking to a friend yesterday and she told us a story similar to today's devotion. A couple she knows well are dealig with a cancer diagnosis and treatment plan. All their friends were offering to help but the offers were refused. They persistedf and "told" them simply what they were going to do and they finally relented. Our friend spent an afternoon pulling weeds and turning over his large vegetable garden. It was hard work but she felt so good being able to help in this way. Others did more yard work and then the meals started coming. Each person so willing to be able to…
I Thessalonians 5:12-15/John 15:16
Today’s reading and reflection return us to the frequently visited themes of trust and gratitude. We can all probably think of many instances in our lives when we swallowed our pride and asked for help, then felt a bit silly for waiting so long. The dilemma reminds me, as so many of these Upper Room entries on these topics do, of our beloved Kay Layne. Biblical trust is seen in thanking God for what we trust God to do in advance of God doing it. I sense this is the trust the Lord wants from us. It is a demonstration of our love and devotion.
Prayer - Lord, thank You for the blessings, protection and help…
