1Corinthians 10:10-13
And do not grumble, as some of them did —and were killed by the destroying angel.
These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the culmination of the ages has come. So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
Philippians 4:19
And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
In today’s devotion from the Upper Room, a frustrated factory worker was ready to walk off the line because they were so far behind. He was agitated, frustrated and tempted to explode emotionally. He prayed to God during his breaks, but nothing changed with the work. Returning to the line after a break, he unexpectedly burst out in laughter. God supplies all our needs. He supplies ways for us to feel calmer, more at peace, safe, and hopeful. This is what a relationship with God can do for us. I am trying to be more and more vigilant to recognize God’s gifts. They come every day, and I don’t want to miss them, or to miss the chance to be grateful.
Holy God, you are at work in my life and the lives of my family members. I am so thankful to you. Hold us close, comfort and strengthen us. You are God, almighty. Amen

Philippians 4:19
This reminds me of many times in my work life when I thought I couldn’t take on one additional thing. There were reports with short deadlines, staffing reports that were due, supply budget shortfalls, surveys and inspections to prep for, the list went on and on but most importantly, a full surgery schedule of patients each day with the expectation that everything would go perfectly and who entrusted us with their care and even their lives. Many days this load felt tremendous. I frequently found myself repeating to myself an adage my father always used, “this too shall pass”…and it always did. As I look back, I know in my heart that God had his hand on my…
Philippians 4 verse 19
I attended an outdoor meeting yesterday at Squam Lake. It had rained the entire hour long drive. Thankfully, it was not raining at the lake. We were over 100 Garden Club members from all around the state. We did not have a tent, just folding chairs in a field and 64 degrees. Although, I toured a beautiful garden and saw lots of wildlife on a hike, I was cold and uncomfortable. The last activity was a boat tour of the lake. I figured I would freeze and was not looking forward to it--BUT immediately the Captain started kidding with us, told lots of bad jokes and made us laugh the entire 1 1/2 hour t…

Philippians 4:19
And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
Perhaps I should try to do as the reader in today’s upper room. How many times have I lost all patience and control when issues are causing me stress. Yes this author prayed several times, to no avail. But then he started to laugh, and while his situation did not change, his ability to receive God’s message to him was loud and clear. How many times has Jesus sent answers to my prayers, and I did not get the message, I know God hears my prayers, …
Philippians 4:19 Making a conscious effort to simplify daily life and find contentment in the most basic of circumstances is an exercise worth undertaking. I remember talking with a person with experience in mission work who said something to the effect that when one has nothing, a relationship with Jesus can become everything. This is a level of love and devotion to Christ that is rarely seen in our land of plenty. All who claim Christ must also claim Philippians 4:19.
Prayer - Help me, Jesus, to trust that God will meet all my needs according to the riches of His glory in You. Amen
