A Daily Devotion for Thursday, May 7

John 14:1-14
These verses are so full of God’s love for all of us. Jesus wants the disciples to know Him, to understand fully who He is and where He came from. For me, these verses comfort in regard to Jesus’ coming death, but also my own. Verse 2: “In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” I am reminded clearly, Jesus is with me in death. I will not leave Him when I die, I will go to Him! I also love Jesus telling the disciples flat out who He is in verse 10: “Do you not believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me?” These are verses I go to when I have doubts start to creep in. Jesus certainly told the truth, all the time. Maybe another memory verse or two in there for me? (Argh! I really need to memorize more!)
Father God, I am so thankful for these beautiful days with my family. I can enjoy them more fully when I do not fear the future. You don’t want us to be afraid, and sent us Jesus to lead our way. I am so thankful for my life with you, and the promise of eternity in your presence. I love you, Lord. Amen
