Psalm 115: 1-4
Not to us, LORD, not to us
but to your name be the glory,
because of your love and faithfulness.
Why do the nations say,
“Where is their God?”
Our God is in heaven;
he does whatever pleases him.
But their idols are silver and gold,
made by human hands.
We often hear questions only answerable by God: Why would he let this happen? Why would he do this if he is loving? What is the point of this suffering on earth? But when I read this scripture, again I am reminded that God’s plans are His own plans, and we cannot possibly know them. But we have been told part of the story, and this part keeps me faithful. We will see Jesus in paradise. We will live with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit for eternity.
Lord God, I know you are a loving God because of what you have done for your creation and what you have promised to do. I do not understand the ’hows’ and ‘whys’. Help me to be patient and faithful, and to remember that you are always in control. Amen

Psalm 115:1-4
Whenever I read about idols in the Bible, I try to understand how people thought of metal and wood figures fashioned by man could be a God. How did the people led out of slavery in Egypt by Moses who was led by God turn to idols? Did the idols find the, water and manna? How easily they forgot who was bringing them home. We all get angry and frustrated—this is precisely when we should turn to our God not some statue.
Prayer: Gracious God, You are our one and only God. It is you and only you I turn to in all situations. Amen

Psalm 115:1-4
Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness! Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?” Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases. Their idols are silver and gold, the work of human hands.
God gives us understanding on any issue we might have, but we do not have to understand everything in order to walk with God and be obedient to his will. There are times when God leaves many questions on my behave because I absolutely have to strengthen my own faith because he sees everything from a totally different…
Psalm 115: 1-4
Ever since the Fall in the Garden of Eden, we persist in trying to usurp the glory that belongs to God alone. This is fruitless. Until we can trust in God’s love and faithfulness we will remain restless and anxious in this life. Contrary to the snarky claims of skeptics, this trust is not superstitious fantasy, but it is based on the tangible blessings we have received, have seen others receive, observe in the wonders of the natural world and imparted by the Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ, the Word who dwelt among us. Especially in the face of trials and tragedy, what the skeptic fails to acknowledge is that we are created beings and are subject…
