A Daily Devotion for Thursday, June 22

Philippians 4:13


For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.


This verse reminds me not to fear failure. Being afraid of failure isolates me from God. If I can remember to ask God for help, I know God is with me, and whatever happens, is known to Him. God will not suddenly make me Superwoman, but He will make me much stronger than I am on my own.


Lord, help me today, to face all of the challenges which will come before me. Remind me of your presence. Amen

Philippians 4:13


This past Wednesday the reading in the upper room was titled God is good. Yet, the reading was about failure. The reading listed was not Philippians but Psalm 29:11 – the Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace. The writer learned he could get strength through prayer, God’s word, and support from others. Even in failure, God loves us, and we probably have learned something through our failure.


Prayer: Gracious God, thank you for these two verses of reassurance that no matter our failure, you love us. Amen

Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

He changes my thinking. He gives me the strength to comprehend His greatness, His power, His promises, His love. Gods nature and character continue to be a lesson to me so that I can comprehend his promise to never leave me nor forsake me. He Increases my Faith. As God becomes more clear to me, His promises and His faithfulness, I now understand, and believe it. My thinking changes. I need to be more positive in my faith that he will guide me in the direction of true belief.

Philippians 4:13

Faith in God is what I consider to be the “great devotion“ in this quotation from Theodore Roosevelt that was burned into my consciousness way back in high school:
