Psalm 119:147
I rise before dawn and cry for help;
I have put my hope in your word.
I, too, have a morning routine which includes scripture and prayer. But as I read the devotion again, I see that so much more could be done with my morning prayer time. This is the time I have which is uninterrupted and quiet, and my thoughts need centering for the day. When there are problems which are looming, I need to turn them over to God, and give to him what I have no control over. I need to remember to thank him for those beautiful parts of my life which I sometimes take for granted. I need to ask God to show me my path. I need to ask God to hold me close to him each and every day.
Holy Lord, you know what is in my heart today, and what I am struggling with. Be with me, and help me to see what I am able to do, and what is beyond my small power. You, Lord, are all powerful. Amen

Psalm 119:147
I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in your word.
I really enjoy being an early riser. A quiet house and a chance to spend timer doing my transformer reading. I may be up before dawn and do my readings, but I have found that I need more time to "cook" my writing. Posting later has become my habit of late.
I am never more happy to be up before dawn then when I can witness the start of the day with a spectacular sunrise over the lake. Our weather has been very poor this spring of 2025 so there has not been much to capture with the camera. I have…

PRAYING TOGETHER
(Small group leaders)
Psalm 119:147
I rise before dawn and cry for help; I hope in your words.
In my spiritual journey, I have been empowered by choosing a Bible verse each morning and remember what it meant to me throughout the day. Reading the word of God is powerful and has the ability to change us, just as good food must be eaten and digested for us to benefit from it. The word of God must be digested in the same way. There is no end to what God’s word can show us even in one verse of scripture. We can study a scripture one time and while others read the same scripture…
Psalm 119:147
The first thing that comes to mind as I read these scriptures is that I could do better. Although I do start my day with prayer, I would like to spend more time during the morning time, diving into readings and study. I seem to be so easily distracted. I understand the importance, but still find that I am inconsistent with my timing, sometimes mornings, sometimes afternoons, but mostly in the evening as I settle from my day.
Dear Lord, help me to be more disciplined with the time I spend with You. I thank you for being there for me no matter the time of day and for always listening to my prayers. Amen.
Psalm 119:147
Ever since I left state service I have not been awake before dawn except in unusual circumstances. I have read that Martin Luther began his day at 4:00 AM with Scripture and prayer. I just don’t know if I have that kind of discipline, but I do faithfully begin each day with Scripture and prayer. I trust this honors God and that it does not matter when in the day we cry for God’s help.
Prayer - Lord, please hear my prayer for Your help this day. Amen
