Revelation 22:16-17
I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”
The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.
When I read this passage, I do not think “church building”, but I do think , “church people.” When Jesus walked among us, he spent little time in formal places of worship, but spent a lot of time calling people to follow him, and gathering people to listen to his teaching. Somehow, we must listen for the Holy Spirit to lead us. We may end up in a place we didn’t expect to be, but we will be there with God, and perhaps will be part of leading others to Him.
Holy Lord, open my eyes and ears to your Holy Spirit’s direction. May I be the helper who leads someone to you. Amen

Revelation 22:16-17
Here we have Jesus wrapping things up. The message is simple and clear, “Come!” and “Let those who hear, say “Come!””.
What I thought about was if McDonald’s put a sign out, “Free Burgers, Limited Time Only”, the drive-through line would be quite long; if the local jewelry store put a sign out, “Free 14 Karat Gold Bracelets, Limited Time Only”, the line would be out the door; if the local stadium put out a sign, “Free NFL tickets, Limited Time Only”, folks would camp all night to get in line. Yet the sign,”Free Everlasting Life, the greatest gift known to man, Limited Time Only” And we have no lines, no campers and empty churches….’mind boggling, isn’t it?
Revelation 22:16-17
The world changes daily and traditions that are centuries, even decades old are being recast, reshaped or abandoned altogether. I never want to see a day when corporate worship is but a memory. I understand it is no longer 1965 and that in the 21st century we must seek and find different ways of doing church and being the church. I will never believe, however, there is no use for gathering with fellow believers in worship, for prayer support and spiritual formation. Faith is not a solo activity. We were made for community and cannot thrive without it.
Prayer - Lord, in these days of empty pews and closing churches, please give us wisdom through the Spirit as…
