John 1: 12-13
Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name , he gave the right to become children of God- children born not of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
Jesus reminded all those he met: they did not need to be part of an earthly family to “belong.” All who accepted Christ became part of the family of God. This does not diminish the importance of our own families, rather it illustrates God’s love for his creation. No one is left out. But I am also reminded today: being part of a family carries with it responsibilities.
Heavenly Father, being one of your children has been a way of life for me. Help me to treat others in this family as you would have us treat our own earthly family members. Amen

John 1:12-13 Yet to all that did receive him, to those who believed in his name he gave the right to become children of God---children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
Believing in Jesus and accepting him is a great gift. I became a child of God. This gift is one only God can give us. Being God’s child, we are given the grace and understanding in believing in Jesus, knowing his promise of redemption through his death and the gift of eternal life. We are born as human beings but are born from God above.
Dearest Lord, help me with the grace you give to me to always…
John 1: 12-13
John introduces the concept of believers as family even as he introduces Jesus as the eternal Son of God in the opening verses of the first chapter of his gospel. This conveys the importance of nurturing and supporting members of that family as we do our blood kin. Our common quest for holiness and transformation binds us and if we take our roles seriously we should become spiritual aunts, uncles, mothers and fathers to the succeeding generation of members of the family of God.
Prayer - God of relationships, help me to be the best spiritual brother, uncle and father to the spiritual family with whom I am blessed. May the circle be unbroken. Amen

John 1:12-13 NIV
Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
These two verses, 12-13, tell me that we’re not born children of God but we become children of God . not by blood, flesh, or man, but only by God. How does God make me/us his children. By his blood, his flesh, and his will. I’m a child of God because of Christ’s blood on the cross. When We put my/our faith and trust in Christ Jesus, Christ’s blood covers us. no…
