A Daily Devotion For Monday, April 4

Luke 6:38

”Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

These words from Jesus remind me of the “golden rule”, but all about giving. When we model cheerful and generous giving, we please God. Others do see this, and perhaps they will find themselves giving more easily. We also need to be fair and honest, in order to expect to be treated likewise. “Do unto others..”

Holy Father, thank you for speaking to me through your word and through my friends. I will follow you. Amen

In reflecting on Luke 6:38 I do believe what we give to others whether our time, talent or money comes back to us in ways we could not imagine. I am always grateful I came from a family who lived by these words. Give freely with love expecting nothing in return except the fact you did what was right by others. God has blessed me in so many ways through family and wonderful friends.

Dear God, Thank you for sharing love and mercy to me always. May I remember to awaken each new day with a grateful heart. Amen.

Luke 6:38 People often misunderstand this verse. When they say “give,” they think of money. Often even churches use us verse before an offering. But if you read before and after this verse, you see this about compassion, love, and judgment. Don’t judge others, love one another, and show compassion and the same will be offered to you. These are the things we should share with those around us. Prayer: gracious God: may I offer love and compassion to those in need. Help me to be less judgmental of others. Amen

Luke 6:38

God expects us to give to others what he gives us. God first gives to us and Jesus says we are to give back, generously, graciously and compassionately and these qualities will come back to us in full measure. We are to love others, not judge them. The more generous we become as we grow in our relationship with God, by giving and sharing with others, the more we will be blessed. We will not end up with less, but will actually prosper in all we do.

Lord, thank you for the generous gifts that you have given to me. You have shown me unlimited mercy, grace, and love when I don't deserve it. You have…

Luke 6:38 “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured in your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

Whatever we are sharing, whether money, clothes, food or time, Luke is telling us that what we put into that sharing will be returned to us. Not in a like manner, but by our reward in Heaven. Good works will be rewarded.

Dear Lord thank you for this assurance. Sharing makes me feel good but knowing that it pleases you is the ultimate reward. Amen.

Luke 6:38 “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured in your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

Jesus is instructing me to always give forgiveness. I should always be as forgiving to those I feel have slighted me as Jesus would have forgiven. Sharing this grace of forgiveness should be a priority for me. Even a higher priority than money. Always giving forgiveness to those around us is a way of pleasing Jesus.

Dearest Lord, I thank you for sharing your mercy, grace and love with me. I pray that the Holy Spirit will always be in my heart…
