Psalm 23:1
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
The devotion this morning was provided by an inmate in a federal prison, who was reminded that his needs were always met in some way, even in small simple ways. Psalm 23 has become a life verse for me. Many people memorized Psalm 23 in Sunday school as a child. I don’t remember ever doing that. It has always been very familiar to me, of course, but it wasn’t until I memorized it as an adult that it became a true support for me, and a way to reach out and anchor myself to God. When I am anxious or upset, preoccupied or otherwise in a negative mindset (or “heart-set”), I go to this psalm and recite it over and over, from beginning to end. It puts me in touch with God. Memorizing this psalm was a great investment of time; God has let me know this was a good move for me!
Holy Lord- your word is the water to keep me spiritually alive. I am so thankful. Amen

Psalm 23:1
Psalm 23, well known for good reason. I have read this calming and reassuring Psalm time and time again over the years. It gives me peace when I am troubled. The writer in The Upper Room today shows us that God pays attention to every single detail in every situation and provides what we need. I move along this earthly life, knowing that God will always be there for me and provide to me what I need, no matter how small.
Loving God, thank you for Your presence in my life and for meeting my needs and providing me for the gift of salvation and for washing away my sins. Amen
Deuteronomy 31:1-8 Psalm 23:1
As I read this devotion, I felt it was the Holy Spirit at work. In the verse from Deuteronomy we are reminded by Moses that God will go hed of us nd will never fail or abandon us. Jesus left us with an advocate, the Holy Spirit, someone who is always near. In God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, we have a trinity of help just waiting for our call.
Prayer: Gracious God, Thank you for your constant presence in my life. May I always remember to turn to you. AMEN

Psalm 23:1
A Psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
The sermon Tom gave yesterday is so influential in our every day walk with God. A still small voice, dwells with in, am I truly listening. As the writer in the upper room this morning acknowledging something so simple as a pen to write with. This verse tells me to recognize the deep trust in God's guidance, much like the role of a shepherd in ancient times. It means acknowledging God's wisdom and strength, and recognizing our dependence on Him for all things, both spiritual and practical. This belief provides comfort and assurance, even facing…
Psalm 23:1
Would I ever see a pen as a gift from God? The writer of this morning’s Upper Room reflection, whose name is Jesus, has, in his context, learned to see the presence of God in things that would escape most people who are not imprisoned. We have several former inmates in our ecumenical Saturday morning men’s group. For those who walk with Christ behind bars, blessings are few and far between - such as a pen - and are thus readily seen and appreciated. My faith could benefit from the exercise of practicing the presence of God, my Shepherd with whom I shall not want.
Prayer - Lord, we have been taught that every good gift comes from…
