A Daily devotion for Friday, September 10

1 Peter 5:8
Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
I have never really thought about what power Satan actually has on his own. But I know that when our faith is strong, it is more difficult for him to influence us. I am remembering the armor we saw a few weeks ago. When our faith is wavering, or doubt begins to make an appearance, God may be waiting for us to put on that armor as extra protection. We need to pray through the doubt. There is an expression some therapists tell their patients: fake it ‘til you make it. This encourages people to walk the walk even when they don’t “feel it.” I believe this applies to our faith as well. We continue to seek God no matter what our feelings are, and this guards us against Satan’s temptations.
Heavenly Father, you are always here with me, even when I don’t see or feel you. I will remember your Spirit never leaves me, no matter how I feel in the moment. I can always turn to you, and must never turn away, even when doubt creeps in. Amen
