A Daily Devotion for Friday, Sept. 12

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

There is a time for everything,

and a season for every activity under the heavens:

a time to be born and a time to die,

a time to plant and a time to uproot,

a time to kill and a time to heal,

a time to tear down and a time to build,

a time to weep and a time to laugh,

a time to mourn and a time to dance,

a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,

a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,

a time to search and a time to give up,

a time to keep and a time to throw away,

a time to tear and a time to mend,

a time to be silent and a time to speak,

a time to love and a time to hate,

a time for war and a time for peace.

Philippians 4:6

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

This verse from Philippians is part of a passage I recently memorized because I love it so much. And I say this to myself, along with a prayer to God, when I need to be reminded not to be anxious. I am embarrassed to admit it, but I can even get anxious about things when I am on vacation! But this passage reminds me what I need to do: “in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Holy Lord, you are here for me when I call to you, and I am so very thankful. Amen

Philippians 4:6

It is difficult for me to not be anxious about anything, especially when it comes to my family and others I love and care about. Thankfully, I know I can always turn to prayer for comfort, even though I still wrangle with the anxiousness. I will try to focus on the Ecclesiastes passage and know that whatever I am anxious about has a season, it has a beginning and an end, an end that God will get me to and through.

Heavenly Father, thank you for always being at my side to help me through my anxious moments and for taking that on for me. Help me to be more trusting in Your comfort. Amen.

The right time

(Focus) Gardners

Philippians 4:6

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with

thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

If I pray and then keep worrying about it I am  mixing a positive and a. Negative. The two cancel out each other so that I end up right back where  I started from.

As long as I  am worrying I am not .trusting God. It is only by trusting by having faith and confidence in him that I am able to enter into his presence through prayer and enjoy the peace that transcends all understanding. This is not just a one-time event but a daily…

Philippians 4:6 Being anxious about anything when trying to walk 500 miles is pretty counterproductive. Our mission Is to walk, become closer to one another as we process our thoughts, commune with God and get to our next lodging for food and restorative rest. It is extremely simple with little room for anxious thoughts. It is also excellent practice for life back in the routine of home.

Prayer - Sovereign God, thank You for this extended time for contemplative dialogue with You. Amidst the breath-taking glories of creation, the aches and pains of physical exertion and the joys of freedom from worldly distractions let me feel Your presence and shed all anxiety. Amen
