John 14:1-7
verses 1-3: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”
I am so comforted by this verse. Jesus promises to come to us in our last minute and take us to be with Him. There were times in the past I worried a bit about whether Jesus’ words were only to the disciples, but now I understand they are words for everyone- Jews and Gentiles and all of God’s creation. God’s dream for His creation- “who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” (ITimothy2:4) Heaven is being able to be with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit for all eternity.
Holy Father, again I am filled with thanksgiving; you have prepared the way for each and every one of us to be with you. I am undeserving but so very thankful. Amen

John 14: 1-7 Life can be very troublesome. We look for what gives meaning and satisfaction to our lives. most people refuse to accept Jesus to give meaning and peace to their hearts; they look elsewhere. When we listen to Jesus, we find the answer to our question. He encourages us to replace the anxieties and confusion in our hearts with a simple but absolute belief in him. His promises give meaning and purpose to our lives, greater and higher than anyone or anything else can offer. His promises are absolutely real and true. Christ’s promise of peace goes beyond this life, and into eternity. He assures us that he left this earth and went to his Father’s house in heaven t…
John 14:3 When everything is ready, I will come and get you so that you will always be with me where I am. How many times, as parents, have we said to a crying child, “don’t worry, I will be back to pick you up.” What we are doing is instilling trust in our child. Jesus is asking his disciples to trust that, when everything is ready, he will return for them. Like the disciples, I must trust that when it is my time, Jesus himself will come with outstretched hand to lead me home to heaven. What a beautiful picture. Prayer, Gracious God, your words reassure us that you will be with us always. Amen
John 14:2-3 - “In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also.”
Aming the many promises of God, John’s Gospel describes the most explicit promise of the Second Coming of Christ. What is different from the first is the element of believers being taken directly to heaven at the end of time. Regardless of when time ends for us, a place in heaven has been prepared for those in Christ, our strength…
John 14:1-7 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Jesus has made very clear the way we can have eternal life. He is the WAY. We must believe in him and follow his teachings and example while on earth. It is so easy to say but so difficult to do.
Dear Lord I know what to do and I’ll keep trying, with your help. Amen.
John 14: 1-7
1 Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in me.
This verse tells me to always have faith in Jesus. He prepared a place for all of us with his death on the cross. He promised to come back and take us home. Jesus is the way home to the Father. Jesus told us about the life we would have with God.
Dearest Lord, thank you for sending Jesus to us. Having faith in Jesus is the way to you. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
