A Daily Devotion for Friday, November 6

Proverbs 25: 26-28

Verse 26: Like a muddled spring or a polluted well is a righteous man who gives way to the wicked.

In this verse, someone who makes bad decisions gives up everything about them which is good. They are (at least for the time being) of no good use to anyone. But they were intended to be very good, and to serve many. To me this is a metaphor for all of us: we were created for a very noble purpose and have the potential to serve many. But if we make bad decisions and do evil, we are of no value to others.

Heavenly Father, thank-you for making me part of your beautiful creation. I will try, every day, to be the best I can be. I have a purpose, and it is good. Amen

Proverbs 25:26-28 This is a very powerful message.  What I understand from this is I have to believe in myself. Many times I have feelings about my own worthlessness. ( this is my constant battle with the devil) I should not dwell on such thoughts. I have to realize that I am of importance. I need to feel capable of facing each day with confidence. Evil  affects me from outside and inside, is it all around me or even more scary already within me. Sometimes I wonder if I had created the damage or something else prompted me. It’s that evil force that pushes me toward evil thoughts and all things wrong. I must be truthful. If not I will fail. If …

Proverbs 25: 26-28

28 Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control.

As I look at society today, I see anger everywhere. It seems like self-control is no longer something that people practice. The road rage, violence and crime on the increase, profanity and murder. People are getting angry over little things like waiting at a stop light, waiting in line at the super market, etc. Anger in itself is not bad, even God gets angry. It the way we handle anger that is key. We need to handle it the way Jesus would. We need to learn how to control our mouths, control our anger and think before we react. Pray to Jes…

20201106 Friday, Daily Devotion - Proverbs 25:26-28 (NIV)

26 Like a muddied spring or a polluted well

are the righteous who give way to the wicked.

27 It is not good to eat too much honey,

nor is it honorable to search out matters that are too deep.

28 Like a city whose walls are broken through

is a person who lacks self-control.

What great metaphors! A muddied spring and a polluted well.

These illustrations describe my status very well when I lost the intimate relationship with God or live forgetting God’s heart with only human greed and covetous mind. It is the same as to seek honors for myself, which leads to the lust of the flesh, the lust…
