Philippians 2: 4-11
verses 5-7: Your attitude should be the same as that of Jesus Christ: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
This is our example. God does not ask me to model myself after some powerful, physically intimidating individual. I am not to be impervious to pain, or suffering. I am to be a servant in my time here on earth. Although I will fail, I will try my hardest to turn from sin. I will be kind instead of impatient, and flexible whenever flexible is an option. I will try my hardest to be like Jesus.
Heavenly Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I am so thankful for your guidance and protection. You are all three, yet One. You have me covered in every situation. Amen

Philippians 2: 4-11
4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
I have work to do in regard to this verse. I do worry and care about others and sometimes to the expense of my own self. However, there are times when I fall short and just think of my own comfort. I have to work on not thinking so much of myself and lending a helping hand to others that may need it.
Dearest Lord, I am sometimes a little selfish with my time. Give me the grace to know when others may need my time so that I may be of service. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
Philippians 2:5
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
I think that this is what has made it possible for Christians to believe in an unseen Savior. We can try to have the same mindset as a human being – God personified in Jesus. The Jews believed in God but kept reverting to images to worship because they needed something tangible to believe in. We must have faith in our God but we can read the words of people who knew Jesus as a man. Those witnesses tell us how a man lived and died and rose from the dead so that we have the chance to be more like Him.
Thank you Lord…

Philippians 3-5
Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. If I consider you above me and you consider me above you, then a marvelous thing happens: we have a community where everyone is looked up to, and no one is looked down on. (now wouldn’t this be a wonderful world) So I have to ask myself is what I do not done out of love for others, but out of my own desires for myself. When I consider others above me, I will naturally have a concern for their needs and welfare: Here…
Philippians 2:5 - “Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus,”
The definition I like for discipleship is, “the life-long process of becoming more like Jesus for the sake of others.” To me, this embodies love of God and love of neighbor - Jesus’ Great Commandment. I deeply regret when I fail, but take heart that the regret is a manifestation of the Holy Spirit guiding me to a better self.
Prayer - Jesus, Your name is exalted above all others and it is the model of Your life and work to which I strive. I am thankful for Your unending patience with me as I try to live the life of a disciple. Amen
