Mark 9:7
Then a cloud appeared and enveloped them, and a voice came from the cloud: “This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!”
God sent His son, and commanded that we listen to him. Jesus was on the earth for a short time, but changed the world, because people listened. We continue to hear from God, through the words and life of Jesus. I am struck this morning with considering our world today if no one had listened and believed.
Father God, you came to us in Jesus. We listened, and are still listening. Help me to lead others to your truth. Amen

When reading these words I find it true that sometimes we hear but we are not listening. There is such a difference. There are days when the "din" of the world comes at us fast and furious that we can shut out the sounds and we do not grasp what is being said. We all need to listen more and talk less so we can hear what God has to tell us.
Dear God, Open my ears that I might listen to your word as I journey on. Amen
Friday, May 20th, 2022 MARK 9:7 Then a cloud appeared and enveloped them. And a voice came from the cloud, this is my son, whom I love, listen to him. A pet peeve of mine is when more than one person is in conversation everybody talks at once and it sounds like a cackling hen house. Our listening abilities are definitely flawed We often hear what we want to hear, and don’t hear what we don’t want to hear. In our world where there is so much talking and so little listening, our hope is in Jesus, who listened fully and responded completely to the voice of his Father. Jesus came to live that life of perfect obedience for you an…
Mark 9:7 Then a cloud appeared and covered them, and a voice came from the cloud: “This is my Son, Whom I love. Listen to him!”
In this verse we are given the confirmation that Jesus is the Son of God. God the Father was preparing the disciples on what was coming in Jesus’ life. The Transfiguration was given so that the disciples knew what to expect. Listening to Jesus tell his disciples about His suffering and death on the cross.
Dearest Lord, you gave your Son to us and wanted us to understand what He went through in order to redeem us from sin. I thank you for your love and compassion in sending Jesus to us. Listening to…
Mark 9:7 Then a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “this is my dearly beloved son. Listen to him.” These words from God are our instruction to listen to Jesus. God knows the disciples are following Jesus and are in awe of all he has done. God also knows that they don’t understand where it is all leading. Although they were still not understanding right to the end, they had listened and now knew their mission was to spread Jesus’ good news. In the first sentence I wrote “our” instruction. Are we listening and are we, like the disciples, spreading the good news? Prayer: Gracious God, Thank you for this reminder to read your words and to listen to…
