What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?
Where does it leave us if we succeed after being encouraged to take a "short cut" or to "bend the rules"? The peace and sense of accomplishment is so much greater when we have succeeded with God at our side, and not by following sketchy advice. I have been fortunate in my professional life to work along side medical professionals with high ethical standards. But I also know know the feeling of a troubled conscience regarding some aspect of my social life. I know it is not worth it to me to follow easy (bad) advice.
Holy Lord, peers and friends are so important in my life, but I do need to remain cautious, to continue to make decisions with the guidance of your Holy Spirit. Amen

For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?
If a person rejects Jesus and becomes the richest, most powerful person on earth, he has still made a poor decision. Sooner or later, earthly things will fade away. And that person will have lost the only part of himself that lasts forever. The day of reckoning is coming when Jesus will reward each person according to what they have done There is nothing more valuable than a person’s soul. So many people strive to have lots of things. They set goals ($1 million by age 30), etc. but often when the goal is achieved, the only satisfaction seems to be to set another goal. They acquire more and more money, status, and stuff, but still feel they are missing something. And they are! They have succumbed to the peer pressure of our world – you never have enough stuff! In all of their stuff, they are missing God. Only he can bring peace and satisfaction.
Prayer: gracious God, only you can fulfill my wants and needs and for that I am thankful. Amen
Matthew 16:26 There are scores of examples, some quite famous and documented in biographies or autobiographies of people who enjoyed immense success as measured by worldly standards, but still felt empty inside. This must be a horrible realization later in life, but it is never too late to ask God to adopt you into the family. Yourself is the only thing you can give in exchange for your soul.
Prayer - Forgiving God, I pray You hear the voices of those living empty lives and draw them to You. May the way the Transformers live our lives help point the way to You and free them from pursuit of things that do not last. Amen
